Applegate Homestead was started in 2011 but the experience comes from years before that. Kevin Applegate, owner and operator of Applegate Homestead, started learning construction and woodworking from his great grandfather, grandfather and great uncle when he was in elementary school. With his great grandfather building some of the major commercial buildings still standing today in Kern County, CA, Kevin learned a craftsmanship and quality that was passed down from generations.
During high school, Kevin worked on new construction builds that included drywall work, cabinet installation, and walk throughs. After graduation, Kevin served in the United States Air Force, fighting in the Operation Enduring Freedom war. In his free time, he would do cabinet installation while in the states and also served three tours in the middle east where he framed houses and built furniture for the locals.
After serving four years in the military, Kevin met the love of his life and married her in 2011. Hence the conception of Applegate Homestead. His craftsmanship since he was young had been accumulating and it was time to share his talents not only at home with remodeling his own houses but also through a business. He started building furniture for local customers and then grew into handyman and construction work with remodeling client’s houses. His knowledge and experience building and remodeling give him the knowhow for any project and his attention to detail and finished carpentry are supreme quality.
